DAY 2 (Monday August, 7 2017)
First Day Activities in Ayuthaya
Sawasdi kha…today was the first day we have
the activity in Ayuthaya. We went to ARU in the morning with Na and her
friend who stayed in ARU dormitory. We went there by tuk-tuk traditional
transportation in Thailand. It cost for 5 baht for one way. After arriving at the
university, Na took us to the canteen to have a breakfast. There are only two
shops who sell the halal food. I ate yellow rice and some side dishes made by
Thai people. It cost for 30 baht for the food or around Rp.12.000 and 5 bhat
for the mineral water or around Rp. 2.000.
Breakfast menu
One of a unique thing that I found in the
school is the students dumped their dishes and put the plate in one place. So,
the table is always clean. They never left the plate and glass on the table of
the canteen.
After having a breakfast, we have a briefing about
SEA-TEACHER program with ms. Sherina at the meeting room. She explained us
about the activity for a month in Thailand and taught us Thai culture and its
language as well.
At the meeting room
Ms. Sherina took us to the technology
building of ARU to have an id of WIFI. We walked around the campus together and
have university tour. The campus is really big although it has many old
buildings. We visited a student library, student cooperation, and classes.
In front of the campus cooperation
I met with muslim club in the campus. We
discussed about muslim community in ARU then they took us to the mushola where
the usually pray. The musholla is not big but it has a good facility
such as the air conditioner.
Met with Muslim students in ARU
At 12.00 pm we have a lunch at the canteen. After a while, we have a traveling to several places in Ayuthaya such as
the Art Center of Ayuthaya, Joseph Church, Ayuthaya River and several temples.
In the temple we could not take a picture randomly because we have to respect
Buddhists’ god or king.
At the temple
Around 15.00 pm we went to the market to
buy some SIM cards because we couldn’t use an internet connection in our
dormitory. I bought a SIM card and pulse for 149 bhat or Rp. 60.000. Thai
people could not speak in English very well even the sellers of the SIM card.
They use sign language and ms. Sherina help them to translate the language into
English language.
In the evening we have dinner at Pakwan
restorant with the awardee students from ARU. They went to Indonesia last year
and lived in Makassar and Kalimantan. They took as by pick up car. so, we can
enjoy the view of Ayuthaya in the night. It was so wonderful…
